With a variety of handy tools and great services available, it’s never been easier to travel around by public transport. New technology means you don’t have to wait around at bus stops, many buses and trains now have WiFi on board, cashless ticket options and more!
Your closest bus stop is located on Market Road, just a 8-minute walk from the Miller Homes development at Egstow Park. From there you’ll find services to Chesterfield, Alfreton, Clowne, and Derby. For a slightly longer walk, you can reach the Derby Road, where Stagecoach offer another high frequency services into Chesterfield.
If your journey is over a slightly longer distance, travel by rail is a great option! Chesterfield Station is the closest train station to your new home at Egstow Park, which is around 35 minutes away on the bus. From there, onward travel is available to Sheffield, Derby and a range of other destinations. Regular direct destinations include:
- Sheffield – around 15 minutes
- Derby – around 25 minutes
- Nottingham – around 40 minutes
- Leeds – around 1 hour 15 minutes
- Manchester – typically 1 hour 20 minutes with some direct services
- Birmingham – around 1 hour
- London St Pancras – from approximately 2 hours
- Norwich – direct East Midlands Railway services
- Newcastle, Edinburgh, Bristol and Plymouth – direct CrossCountry services throughout the day
Key Local Bus Services
These services run to stops on Market Road and Derby Road. Click on their names for more details about their routes and timetables.
Can be accessed via the stops on nearby Market Road:
Service 54 – operated by Stagecoach, runs between Clay Cross and Chesterfield, with services every 20 minutes Monday to Friday, and 30 minute services over the weekend.
Service 55 – operated by Notts & Derby Buses, runs hourly services between Chesterfield and Alfreton, Monday to Saturday. Services are found on Market Road.
Service 63 – also operated by Stagecoach, runs five services each way between Matlock and Chesterfield, Monday to Saturday.
From Derby Road:
The Comet – operated by TrentBarton, runs between Derby and Chesterfield every hour Monday to Sunday.

Paying for your Journey
Catching the bus or train no longer has to mean fumbling around for change before hopping on to pay the driver or conductor in a rush! There are so many different ways to pay for your journey now that you may feel a little spoilt for choice!
It’s also important to check that you aren’t paying too much. Whilst paying for single or return tickets is OK for occasional or one off journeys, those who travel more frequently by bus and/or rail can save some significant cash by choosing monthly or annual passes.

Bus operator apps have proved to offer a real step change when it comes to real time bus information. They display the exact location of your bus on a handy map, in a very similar style to the Uber app which many are now familiar with.
